𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥



This is a favorite representation I have ever learnt until today. The four glasses model exhibit four types of leadership that unambiguously ubiquitous in all level of individual to organizations. The characteristics of each glasses is described as follow. (Right - Left)
1. In the first glass of water, soil is added. Soon after the soil is added, the color of water changed to brownish, become unclean, not clear and dirty. Here, water resembles community or organization and soil as leader. From this experiment, we can conclude that this kind of leadership will just impoverish the organization and everybody in the system will sink in the ocean of corruption just because of one rotten apple of leadership.
2. Similarly, a few stones are added in the second glass of water. After a few seconds, very little or no changes in the color of water and characteristics of stones are observed. This indicate that if leaders are like stones, absorption capacity is zero meaning no opinions and ideas of other will ever be considered. He or she will do what he or she wants to achieve and what he likes, not in the interest of organization and public. Under this leadership, the system will never have difference, instead chaotic decisions that are likely have more failures in the end. Egoistic leader
3. An additional amount of water is poured in the third glass of water.. And nothing has been changed in the composition even after practical. This indicate that it is as good as no leader in the company, organization or localities. Under this kind of leadership, the entities will neither expand nor shrink but entirely remain the same.
4. A few cube of sugar is added in the last glass of water and stirred it thoroughly. A few second later, all the sugar blocks got dissolved, however the compositions of water did not change, EXCEPT its taste. Relating this to leadership style, very few leaders are like sugar, majority falls in earlier three categories. A true leader will never disorganize and disintegrate the beauties of entity.
- He/She will listen more and respect the options and ideas of other side.
-will make decisions based on the principle of public interest.
-will build knot of relationships and treat every individual as equal.
- will give first priority to needy ones and avoid favoritism and nepotism.
- will fight for corruption
- will bring issues and discussion in the group and prefer team work
- will correct the mistake instead of criticism
- will ask what needs to be done, not what he or she wants to do.
- explore the possibility in circumstances
